A powerful tool, the Double Barb Makau was the hook of choice for Kauai fishermen. Inspired by an ancient Hawaiian fish hook found in the Bishop Museum archives, the pendant is a symbol of fortitude -- it means "you can."
- Shown in 18 karat yellow gold, on 3mm black leather cord (sold separately).
- Also available in sterling silver, white gold or platinum.
- Measures approximately seven-eighths of an inch wide, by one and three-quarters inches high (7/8”W x 1.75"H).
- Can accommodate up to a 4mm chain or cord.
- Cord sold separately.

Stunning Fish Hook

I’ve been visiting Kauai and the Hanalei Farmers Market for years. I always admired Keoni’s unique and beautiful jewelry. Last year I finally got my 18k fish hook. The quality of the fish hook is exquisite, and it makes such a statement that I receive constant compliments. On my many travels to Hawaii I have seen many fish hooks, but none came even close to the quality and beauty of Keoni’s creation. I had purchased 2 of Keoni's masterpieces (2 silver hooks) about 3 years ago while I was in Kauai for myself and a friend. I had loved my silver hook so much and wore it just about everyday. I decided that the next time I was in Kauai that I would go see Keoni again and see if he could custom make another hook like the silver one I had in my favorite metal, rose gold. I just got it today and it is so much more beautiful than I could have even imagined.
These hooks go with everything and are very durable. They are just as beautiful as they are practical and I couldn't be happier with mine.

Funny story of how it came to be, I'm from NYC and had been looking for a pendant for over a year. I've gone from store to store and endless web searches for gold pendants that i could identify with. One day i Google "fish hook" and find the Kauai Carver store. Once I read what Keoni was about and what the hook represented i called right away. Heather answered the call and spent a great deal of time explaining what the product was, how it was made, and what it meant. She help me through the decision making process being that i could not touch or feel the product. Well..... I could not be more happy with my white gold double barb hook!! The craftsmanship is spectacular, the design perfect... the loop on the hook allows for a nice size chain to fit through it. Heather and Keoni explained that the pieces are not priced by weight alone, there's the time factor that goes into each piece that reflects in the superior quality and I agree!! I'm so glad that i bought the hook for myself and i recommend this product to everyone....treat yourself to something truly special on many levels!!
P.S. I also bought a silver hook on a leather cord for summer time beach use, thank you Heather and Keoni I could not be more happy!!!

I bought this for my husband and he was absolutely thrilled with the craftsmanship and quality of the piece. I was not able to find any other hooks in 18K and took a chance buying on line...glad I did! And Keoni was very thoughtful getting his creation to me on time with a beautiful presentation. I could feel the spirit in his work and highly recommend his artistic, meaningful jewelry!!

I bought this makau sight unseen as a memorial piece. When it arrived, I was overwhelmed at how beautiful it was and the sheer weight of it. What a gorgeous piece of jewellery. Keoni and Heather were wonderful too! Now I have a memorial piece that has a good memory of some fine people and is beautiful all at the same time.
